Alex Zand, CTO. Chief Technology Officer
alex@entiv.com
Mr. Zand received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California (USC), and completed all Course works for Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from USC. He joined Ampex Corporation in Elsegundo Ca. in 1979 where he worked on variety of embedded electronic systems and developed the 1st emulation of Nova 16 bits mini computer, floppy disk controller, and multitask, multiuser IRIS Operating System. Mr. Zand emphasizes over 20 years of directly acquired design, embedded development, architectural design, system, test/validation, and management experience that couples sound analysis, solid engineering and project management expertise with the ability to successfully devise, design and program utilizing a comprehensive array of software, hardware, and embedded systems, numerically controlled electro-mechanical devices, telecommunication, robotics, and printer internals. Mr. Zand was fully responsible to devlop several avionic black boxes for Teledyne Controls, developed next generation Ricoh multifunction embedded controller, developed high-density plasma etch cluster tool controller, and several innovative and real-time robot embedded controllers. He founded TDC (Technology Development Center ) and continued consulting for major electronic, and control manufacturers on robotics, firmware design, board level design, digital and analog electronics, wireless, Spread Spectrum, and custom analog systems. His work has resulted in many papers in the field of motion control system, communications systems, software, and integrated circuits.
Ali Fotowat, Ph.D. VP, Mobile communications
ali@entiv.com
Dr. Fotowat received his B.S. degree from California Institute of Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. both from Stanford University. He joined Philips semiconductor in Sunnyvale Ca. in 1987 where he worked on mobile systems and developed some of the most well known and commercially successful RF integrated circuits. He founded Kavoshcom (later to be acquired by Oxus ) and continued consulting for major semiconductor and mobile system manufacturers on GSM, digital AMPS, Spread Spectrum, and custom analog systems. His work has resulted in many papers and patents in the field of personal communications systems and integrated circuits.
Babak Khalaj, Ph.D. VP, Data Communications
babak@entiv.com
Dr. Babak Khalaj got his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1996 from Stanford University. His doctoral research area at Stanford was focused on applications of modern signal processing techniques to wireless communications and image processing. He has been one of the pioneers in applying multiple-antenna technology to CDMA-based mobile communication systems. After his graduation from Stanford, he joined the Corporate Technology Group of KLA Instruments, in San Jose, CA. as a Senior Algorithm Design Eng. where he worked on modern signal estimation and detection schemes. In 1997, he became a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Advanced R&D group of Advanced Fiber Communications, in Fremont, CA. working on broadband networking systems. His main area of research at AFC was design of VDSL and Cable-modem baseband systems and DSP implementation. He joined Oxus in September 1999 founding a new division in DSL and Data communications with 4 years of experience at KLA Instruments, AT&T Bell Labs and Advanced Fiber Communications in the areas of signal processing and digital communications. Since then, he has been working on different projects in the areas of VDSL system design and broadband DSL loop qualification with Data Communications companies in Silicon Valley.
Ehsan Mivehchi, Ph.D. VP, Networking and Software
ehsan@entiv.com
Dr. Mivehchi began his engineering carrier in United Kingdom. He did his graduate and postgraduate studies in the University of Wales, Cardiff where he received his Ph.D. degree in industrial automation. In 1996 Dr. Mivehchi joined the design team of Kavoshcom founding a new division in networking and software. Dr. Mivehchi's expertise in industrial software design helped Kavoshcom establish a more formidable design team that addressed the automation design field. Between 1996 and 1999, Kavoshcom worked on several projects offered by Malaysian Telecom industries. The result of this cooperation was chipsets and systems that were successfully implemented and introduced to the international markets by US and Malaysian companies. These systems ranged from fixed wireless access chips to mobile phone handsets and were introduced in product lines of these companies.
Behzad Imani, Ph.D. VP, Advanced Networks
behzad@entiv.com
Dr. Imani received his Ph.D. degree in Optoelectronic engineering from The University of Arizona in 1986. Between 1982 to 1986, Dr. Imani held various research teaching assistantships at the Optical Sciences Center, Physics department, and Electrical Engineering department at the University of Arizona. He trained many students from US Air Force. In 1987, he joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at San Jose State University. Until Sept 1989, Dr. Imani was Assistant Professor of Engineering and Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University. He held various engineering positions with semiconductor capital equipment manufacturers until Sept 1989. Dr. Imani designed and implemented auto focus and auto astigmatic boards for scanning electron microscopes. He also designed sophisticated optical inspection systems for startup companies in Silicon Valley such as KLA Instruments and Nanometrics. In 1990, he founded Transoptics Inc., focusing on design and development of optical thin film inspection systems. The company has been profitable since 1993. Dr. Imani, has been in constant touch with the progress of Dr. Fotowat and his design team in past few years. His technical expertise and managerial experience will bring unparalleled set of skills to Oxus Networks during its startup phase.
